The leaves still remain soft to touch due to the way they are preserved, which includes a mixture of glycerine and dyes. This then replaces all of the plants cells thus keeping them realistic.
We do advise that these items are best kept at room temperature and areas of high humidity or extreme cold are avoided as this can affect the cell structure and may cause the item to drip (which can stain).
